External collaborations with individual researchers and with research institutions and centres continued to advance the reputation of the Peter Wall Institute for fundamental, interdisciplinary research, with more planned for the coming year.
For example, Professor Roald Hoffmann, who won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1981 and is also a poet and playwright, was Peter Wall Distinguished Visiting Professor in 2008. He visited in March, for celebration of the completely rennovated Chemistry Building and the UBC launch his new play, “Should’ve,” at UBC’s Frederic Wood Theatre.
